NHL Foundation Player Award

Description: Awarded from 1997-98 through 2016-17, the NHL Foundation Player Award was presented annually “to the player who applies the core values of hockey – commitment, perseverance and teamwork – to enrich the lives of people in his community.” The NHL Foundation Player Award was discontinued in 2017-18, and the associated NHL Foundation charitable donation now is provided through the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. From the award’s inception in 1997-98 through 2016-17, the NHL and NHL Foundation donated $500,000 to charities selected by the award’s recipients.
